Echterling Builders was started by Frank Echterling on the outskirts of Chicago, Illinois in Hammond, Indiana. Frank worked as a foreman at a lumber yard and built his first home in 1951. Frank had eight children, five boys and three girls. All of the boys were in the construction field at one time or another.
After returning from service in the Korean War in 1959, Fred and Donald Echterling, two of Frank's sons, joined forces to build many homes in the Chicago suburbs.
Fred and Donald split in 1961 to explore different endeavors. Fred continued to build quality custom homes doing most of the work himself. He wanted to work and live in a warmer climate and in 1969 he moved to Waco, Texas where he currently resides.
Fred and his son, Bert, decided to incorporate and on January 30, 1998 Echterling Builders Incorporated was formed.
Today Echterling Builders builds an average of 20 custom homes per year averaging 2,500 square feet. EBI handles medium to large remodeling projects and also deals in light commercial projects. The company offers design & finance consultations, in-house blueprint modifications, 10 Year HOME Warranty, and one of the largest customer bases found in Waco.

Meet Bert Echterling...
Bert is an avid outdoorsman enjoying spending time with his four children - Michael, Brennon, Corbin, and Grace. Being a family business, his father started him early in the construction field. From framing to flooring, his upbringing and experience are key components to the success of Echterling Homes.
